Painting of lone figure hanging from tree

What comes next?

I am starting a project that includes a collection of stories from others that are patients, loved ones and/or caregivers dealing with major physical illnesses and memory related issues.  The goal is to allow for an outlet to express and document the vulnerabilities impacting emotional, physical, financial and family frameworks while trying to navigate the health care system and advocating for proper treatment.

This is a follow on to my books The Lumberjack Song, Grace Through Hardship a narrative of my husband Gary’s journey through cancer and vascular dementia. The companion journal to it, Grace Through Hardship provides a safe place for people to document their journey and provides tips, words and questions to help you get started. Both books contain a visitation guide to help you prepare for and record notes for appointments and visits.

I always intended to publish a collection of stories from people willing to share their story in order to provide additional emotional support and more tips for others. Given that no two stories are exactly alike, but at the same time, are similar in so many ways – I feel it is important to share a convergence of knowledge and experience. These stories based on contributors’ desires can either be part of a published collection or just have useful tips added for others going through their journey within the published publication.

I plan on starting this process within the new year. If you are interested in being considered for this project, please use the contact link/tab to provide contact information. Add a note if you have capability to attend web- based meetings. Please provide a short statement describing your journey.

Thank you all for your support –

Linda
